Bike in Holyrood Park

Whether you are cycling day to day, or out for a leisurely ride, there are many on and off-road cycle routes around Edinburgh. Our city is a fabulous place to cycle whether you are a novice or a budding Chris Hoy.

Cycling is a quick and simple way to get around the city, which is healthy for both you, your wallet and the environment.  All you need is a roadworthy bike and some basic safety gear.

Cycling is fun for the whole family too! With a bit of planning, it is often possible to find routes that avoid busy roads. There are so many choices for where your bike adventure might take you! Visit a play-park, local attraction or the beach. There are traffic-free paths alongside most stretches of the Water of Leith from Balerno to Leith, with an extensive network of tarmac paths using old railway lines. The Union Canal towpath has no motor vehicles from Tollcross to Falkirk, and it's flat!
